Wajeha's story is one of perseverance. Born in Afghanistan, she spent her early years in a refugee camp, facing unimaginable hardships. With nothing but hope and determination, she arrived in New Zealand, ready to rebuild her life.
Settling in a new country wasn’t easy. With no resources, no connections, and limited opportunities, Wajeha worked tirelessly, taking on multiple jobs to support her child.
But she had a dream — to bring the rich flavors of Afghan food to her new home.
From a small food stall to a thriving restaurant in the city centre, Wajeha's journey is proof that hard work and resilience can turn dreams into reality.
However, it wasn’t smooth sailing. High rents, complex regulations, and lack of government support made it hard to survive as a small business owner.
Wajeha knows the struggles of local businesses—because she’s lived them. Now, she’s stepping up to be a voice for the business community, ensuring fairer policies, better opportunities, and a thriving local economy.
The challenges of running a business in this city are real—I’ve lived them. From navigating regulations to keeping doors open, I know the struggles firsthand. That’s why I’m stepping up, not just as a candidate, but as a voice for every hardworking business owner.
Unlike traditional politicians, Wajeha has real-world experience, not just policies and promises.
